Do you provide after-sales support?

Yes. We provide ongoing telephone and remote support, and our engineers are available for callouts across the UK and beyond. Most issues can be resolved over the phone or via video call without an engineer visit. If an engineer visit is required, we aim to reach you within days, sometimes even the same or next day. UK Callouts are included while our systems are under warranty, and we're actively looking at other locations to open Water Freedom engineering and service hubs

What contaminants does the system remove?

Accepted Answer

Our primary systems remove sediments, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, pesticides and other chemical contaminants. Bacteria, viruses and cysts are eliminated using ultraviolet sterilisation. This primary process produces water that's safe for general domestic purposes, including baths, showers, laundry and even dishes. Our ultra-purification systems, including the Water Freedom Pure and PurePlus, then take the water to a level of purity that significantly exceeds mains tap water standards, removing up to 99.9% of any remaining contaminants including heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium), hyrocarbons, microplastics, PFAS "forever chemicals", pesticides, chlorine compounds and any microbiological risks that might have developed in water tanks or pipework after our primary process. Multiple independent laboratory tests verify the efficacy of our systems.

Is the water suitable for drinking?

Yes. The water produced by Water Freedom Pure and PurePlus systems significantly exceeds UK and EU drinking water standards. It's also suitable for infants, immunocompromised individuals, and those with sensitivities to chlorine or fluoride.

What about mineral content?

Our reverse osmosis systems remove virtually all dissolved minerals, producing very pure H₂O. For those who prefer mineralised water, we offer an optional remineralisation stage that adds back calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc in balanced proportions.

Can I use the water for cooking?

If the water has been through one of our ultra-purification systems, then absolutely, yes. Many of our customers find that cooking with pure water improves the taste of food noticeably - particularly when making pasta, rice, soups and stocks. The absence of chlorine and fluoride makes a perceptible difference.

How much electricity does the system use?

Our standard primary systems draw a maximum of 300W while they're producing water. Running for 20 minutes produces around 200 litres and uses approximately 0.1 kWh. The Water Freedom Pure ultra-filtration device draws 120W while you're filling your glass, kettle, or saucepan, and negligible amounts on standby. The Water Freedom IntaBoil and Chill & Fizz systems have a higher power draw of up to 2KW while they're heating or chilling a store of boiling or chilled water, but then a significantly lower power requirement to maintain those stores at their target temperatures.

How often do filters need changing?

For typical use on UK canal or river water, wells and boreholes, we recommend changing sediment filters on our primary systems every 1-3 months. The other filters in the array last 3-12 months. The Water Freedom Smart will tell you when filters need to be changed. The filters in our ultra-purification drinking water systems, typically last 12-24 months. The Water Freedom Pure will tell you when it's time to change filters.

Is there a service plan available?

Yes. We offer annual service plans that include an annual service, periodic UV lamp replacement, and a full system health check. Our service plans also provide a lifetime warranty on all components, and include filters up to a fair-usage limit. Plans are available monthly or annually. Do I need to be home for the installation?

We require someone to be present at the beginning and end of an installation. This allows our engineer to talk you through any choices related to the installation at the beggining of the process, and to explain the controls, and maintenance requirements once your system is installed and working. Installation times vary from product to product.

Does installation require any building work?

Accepted Answer

Installations of Water Freedom systems on boats are usually completed in a day. Most residential under-sink installations require no building work, just access to your water supply and a power socket. Larger whole-home systems sometimes require building work and rainwater harvesting installations often require additional pipework, trenches and excavation. These details will be discussed at the beginning of the process.

Can I install the system myself?

Some of our systems, particularly the Water Freedom Pure, can be installed by someone with reasonable plumbing skills. Our primary systems need to be installed by a Water Freedom engineer. For plumbed residential systems we strongly recommend professional installation to ensure reliability, warranty validity, and optimal performance.

The warranty covers all mechanical and electrical components against defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover consumables (filters, UV lamps), or damage caused by negligence, neglect, incorrect use, or installation by non-approved engineers.

Does DIY installation affect my warranty?
